Other activities:
Animals feature heavily at Allerthorpe, not just the local nature but we are a popular site for bird watchers and have a hut hidden away where you can spot fabulous bird species.
We have a pony field, goats, birds and a few small furry animals in our petting corner.
Our fish stock in the main lake are quite large and enjoy being fed, along with the ducks! Fish food is available to to buy in reception.
Childrens Play Area
For younger children we have a lovely wooden play area overlooking the main lake and to the side of the Lakeside Cafe. The play area is fenced and includes seating. Please supervise children whilst in the play area.
During the summer months we cordon off a shallow corner of the main lake for paddling, have a sand pit area and a few toys to keep little ones occupied.
Lakeside and Woodland Walks
Explore the many footpaths surrounding the 3 lakes and enjoy the peaceful seclusion away from the water sports activities on the main lake. Picnics are welcome. We do offer take away drinks and food from the the cafe too. An entrance fee does apply so please call into reception on arrival.
Dogs are more than welcome. We simply ask for consideration around people and boats on the main lake, fishermen on our second lake and on the campsite. Please pick up after your dog.
Outside Group Activities
We occasionally have outside organisations holding activities such as Yoga, painting, orienteering and back to nature and foraging courses for anyone to participate. As these dates are confirmed, we will add them to our events page.
Picnic / Disposable BBQ’s
We do not allow any form of BBQs around the park following a couple of incidents where the bins have been set on fire, we do however make an exception for those in the camping field on the proviso that they are lifted well of the ground to prevent burning of the grass.
